Please be advised: A merchant vessel reported coming under fire on 20 November 2009 at 1530 UTC in position 01:08S - 062:28E (Approximately 470 NM northeast of Port Victoria, Seychelles). The vessel was attacked by armed men on board a skiff with AK-47s and RPGs. The second officer was reportedly injured by a piece of shrapnel and will require medical assistance. Mariners are warned to stay clear of this area as it will remain high risk for at least the next 24-48 hours. Weather conditions are expected to remain conducive to small boat operations during this time.
