A merchant vessel reported coming under fire on 29 November 2009 at 0457 UTC in position 0444S- 05230E (Approximately 180 NM west of the Seychelles). The vessel was attacked by 2 skiffs with 4-6 armed men on board each skiff who fired shots at the vessel's wheelhouse and accommodation. Vessel is now reported as continuing her voyage safely as the skiff is no longer visible on radar and has not been located by watch standers. Mariners are warned to stay clear of this area as it will remain high risk for at least the next 24-48 hours. Weather conditions are expected to remain conducive to small boat operations during this time.
