Piracy Report
Please be Advised: Possible pirate mother ship activity noted in two positions in the Indian Ocean on 17 March 2010. This activity is in addition to the Special Advisory sent yesterday, and is not an update to the mentioned pirate attack group in yesterday’s advisory. First location is near position 03:16S – 058:09E at 0414Z. Second location is near position 03:58S – 044:48E at 0558Z. These areas will remain high risk for the next 24-48 hours as weather conditions continue to be conducive to small boat operations. Mariners are warned to avoid transiting these waters if possible. If necessary to transit these waters, mariners are encouraged to use all counter-piracy measures and employ all best management practices.
